Demogorgon Duck
This Demogorgon Jeep Duck is made using premium PETG 3D filament, chosen specifically for durability and long term performance. PETG can withstand much higher temperatures on your Jeep dashboard, typically between one hundred fifty eight and one hundred seventy six degrees Fahrenheit, before it begins to soften or deform. Many competing ducks are printed in PLA, which can start to soften and deform at around one hundred thirty degrees Fahrenheit.
PETG also offers superior UV resistance, meaning it holds its color far better when exposed to sunlight. PLA prints are much more likely to fade over time and can eventually lose their color entirely when left on a dashboard.
So why do many competitors choose PLA instead of PETG? The answer is simple. PLA is the easiest and cheapest filament to print. It prints faster, requires very little tuning, and works well with basic presets on modern 3D printers. Anyone with a printer and a phone can produce PLA prints with minimal effort.
PETG, on the other hand, prints slower, costs more, and has a more limited color selection. In some cases, hand painting is required to achieve the desired look. PETG filament also needs to be properly dried before use, and the printer and material must be carefully tuned. This takes experience, time, and additional equipment that many people are not willing to invest in.
I am a proud Jeep owner and I genuinely enjoy ducking other Jeeps on the road. When I place a duck on someone’s dashboard, I want to know it will last and not melt or fade away. I may not chase the same profit margins as others, but I take pride in what I make and I stand behind the quality of every duck I print.
